Last September, I helped plan my sister’s wedding and I have been waiting all winter to blog about it because I thought the colour pallet would be absolutely perfect for spring! Now that spring is officially here, I’m so excited to share all my favourite details and moments from the day!
Now, I love my sister, but she is just not a detail oriented person. She picked her colours to be a gorgeous aqua and bright cherry red, but other than that, she turned the reins over to me and let me run wild with the details!
Some of my favourite elements from the wedding included the ribbon backdrop for the ceremony, the flowers for her adorable teacup maltase puppy Icing (who was also their ring bearer!) and the giant handmade “love” sign behind the head table. I also love how the dessert bar turned out! We purchased 3 ikea bookcases and filled them with flowers, books, cupcakes and tons of other yummy desserts!

The only thing I was a little nervous about was the flowers for the day! While my sister picked out what she wanted for bouquets, she just didn’t have the time or desire to figure out what to do for centerpieces. Together with my mom, I met the florist and picked out all the flowers for her centerpieces without her having any idea what we had decided. The first time she saw her wedding decor was when she stepped in to the room as a married woman! Luckily, she loved the decor (at least that’s what she told me)!

absolutely LOVE this color combination! spectacular!!
How did you make the sign? 🙂
Hi Rachel! We made the sign by tracing the letters we wanted onto a thin sheet of plywood, then cut it out with a jigsaw. After the sign was cut, we cut thousands of 2" squares of aqua blue tissue paper. We used pencils to wrap the tissue around to make each square piece three-dimensional, then used a hot glue gun to glue each piece of tissue down.
