Thanks to one of the most brilliant marketing campaigns by Starbucks, Pumpkin spice lattes are synonymous with fall. But the standard Starbucks version is lacking one thing… pumpkin! This year, as reports went out of the #PSL ingredients list, the internet was horrified that their beloved pumpkin lattes were merely a chemical concoction of high fructose corn syrup and artificial flavours. Luckily, this homemade one-mug version is super easy to make and has no mysterious chemicals or artificial flavours!
Easy homemade Pumpkin spice latte
(serves 1)
1 tbsp canned pumpkin
1 tbsp cane sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp of nutmeg
pinch of ginger
1 cup brewed coffee
1/2 cup milk of choice
1. Combine first 5 ingredients in a large mug. Place mixture in microwave and heat for 15 second intervals until mixture begins to caramelize.
2. Pour brewed coffee into mug (I used my Keurig with a Starbucks dark roast pod) and stir to dissolve pumpkin mixture.
3. Warm milk (either with a milk frother, in the microwave or on the stove) and pour into mug.
4. Sprinkle with a pinch of cinnamon.
