Last week was my 25th birthday, and to celebrate, we took a trip to Las Vegas. Okay… well maybe we really went to Vegas because my husband wanted to see the Red Bull Air Races, but hey, it all worked out in the end!
Now, when thinking of Vegas most people think of crazy nights of drinking and gambling, but you can still have some good clean fun in Vegas too! I thought I would share a few highlights from my trip, as well as a few tips on how to save money if you are planning to take your own trip to Sin City! Here are 4 things you must do in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The best things to do in Vegas that aren’t bars or strip clubs:
1. Go for a hike
We went on two separate hiking trips in Red Rock Canyon, and normally, I can’t say I enjoy hiking much (I mean, really… it’s basically just walking uphill in the scorching sun trying not to step on scorpions or rattlesnakes). But Red Rock Canyon was amazing! Instead of just walking uphill, there were tons of opportunities to free climb up large boulders, turning our hiking trip into an adventure!
2. See a show
If you are in Vegas you absolutely need to see a Cirque Du Soleil show! I have seen more of their shows than I remember, but this time around we got to see their show Zarkana. It was amazing, but if you only have time for one show, I would definitely recommend their show “O” as an absolute must see!
We found about Tickets for Tonight while we were in Vegas and it is a great way to find discounted tickets if you aren’t fussy about where you are sitting or what show you want to see. If you have the flexibility, definitely check out their site for day-of discounts on Cirque du Soleil and tons of other Vegas shows.
3. Have a Spa day
One of my best vacation tips is to check local daily deal sites before you leave on your vacation (i.e. Groupon). We were able to get an amazing deal at a gorgeous spa in Las Vegas for half the price! However, make sure you read the fine print – when we checked in, we found out we were required to pay a $60 gratuity on top of the Groupon price!
4. Relax in a Condo
It’s nice to be able to get away from the hustle and bustle of the strip, and renting a condo was perfect for our family. Also, eating out 3 times a day gets old really fast, but luckily our condo had a full kitchen. Not only did we save money on food, but we were able to cook a healthy full breakfast in the mornings before we went about our day.
Well that’s it for my cheap & clean Vegas tips! What do you think? Are there any other inexpensive Vegas experiences I missed out on? Let me know in the comments below!

never been to vegas, but if I'm gonna go there in the future, i won't be interested in the "drinking, casino and partying" part too. I'm definitely putting cirque in my to-do list when i go there!!
