Most of my style post are filled with pretty yet casual looks, but this week’s post is something a little extra special. I’d been dreaming of creating a romantic editorial photoshoot for a while and as I thought about the wardrobe for this shoot, I knew I wanted a to wear a fabulous tulle skirt. So at the beginning of summer I bought some grey silk and tulle and began sewing the beautiful full skirt I had imagined.
With the outfit nailed down, I wanted to do something special with my hair. So the day of the photoshoot I went to visit Fran Rizzuto (@FrenchyDoesMyHair) to make my #hairgoals come to life!
If you’ve been following Pretty Little Details for a while, you’ll know that I’ve been bleach blonde for most of my time as a fashion blogger. But while I loved having white blonde hair, the maintenance was starting to get tiresome. Fran was the stylist who finally transitioned my bleach blonde hair into a more natural ombré. (You can read all about it in this post!) Oh, and here’s a fun fact for you all… after Fran styled my hair for the first time, I found out that her father has been cutting my fathers hair for close to 20 years! Such a small world right?!
Anyways, after chatting with her again more recently, I found out she & her sister March have launched a new styling business together catering specifically to local brides.
When you are engaged, there are more photo ops then ever. Between bridal showers, engagement photos and eventually the big day, you pretty much need your hair to look photo ready 24/7! That’s why they are offering full bridal hair packages that include everything from pre-wedding trims & conditioning treatments to updo’s for the actual wedding day and all the amazing events that lead up to it! The best part is, when you book a bridal package with them, you end up saving money on all those little things you would have needed anyways (like touching up your highlights before your wedding day!). Seriously such a wonderful idea!
The beautiful flowers I’m holding came from Callia Flowers, an online Winnipeg florist that delivers bouquets direct to you. (you’ve seen me with another of their stunning bouquets here!) They delivered this gorgeous bouquet right to the salon where I had my hair styled. From there, Fran was able to pick out a few of the tiny purple blooms to pin into the romantic updo she created.
These photos were all shot at the grotto in Cooks’s Creek, a place I never even knew existed until a few weeks ago. The grotto is absolutely magical and wandering around in my tulle skirt, I felt like I was strolling around a castle in Europe… definitely not something you’d expect rural Manitoba!
We seemed to have lucked out by visiting on a day they were doing maintenance, as the entire structure is surrounded by barbed wire fence. If there weren’t people already there working the evening of our photoshoot, I’m not sure if we would have been able to get in! If you decide to make the drive to visit this beautiful grotto, I’d definitely advise calling first to make sure the gate is actually open!
