My husband and I recently enjoyed a mini-vacation at the Mere Hotel here in Winnipeg. With all the holiday hustle and bustle, a romantic weekend stay in the city was exactly what we needed!
If you’ve never stayed in Winnipeg before, the Mere Hotel is located right between the trendy Exchange District and cozy St. Boniface. It’s also nearby the bustling Forks historic site and the brand new Canadian Museum for Human Rights.
There are plenty of delicious restaurants and trendy coffee shops nearby, including Cibo waterfront cafe right next door. The building used to be an old pump house and before it ever was a restaurant, my brother-in-law actually proposed to his wife overlooking the river on the balcony of the then abandoned building. It has since been renovated of course, but it has kept the beautiful industrial charm of the original historic building. The beautiful brick walls and high ceilings make for the perfect atmosphere to enjoy their delicious food!
Upon walking into the Mere Hotel, you can tell everything looks modern & fresh. The bright lobby is definitely the perfect place to snap an instagram. Between the glossy white floors and oversized windows, there is tons of beautiful light streaming in. We spotted these adorable violet hued chairs and couldn’t resist snapping a few photos!
I will always and forever be a details girl, so its the little things that tend to impress me the most. Upon checking in, the front desk agent mentioned there were complimentary granola bars & bottled water in the fridge. When you’re traveling, it’s pretty much a given that you will arrive at your hotel hungry & thirsty, but most hotels charge exorbitant prices for even the tiniest of snacks. I was beyond delighted when I found complimentary Clif energy bars and water bottles waiting in my room!
When I’m traveling, I always try to choose hotels that have lots of natural light in the rooms. Beyond that I look for hotels that have crisp white sheets and a “real” blanket (nothing is worse than those thin beige budget hotel blankets!). Any hotel I book generally has to meet all three of these requirements, and the Mere Hotel of course passed with flying colours!
The hotel offers a romance package that includes sparkling wine, delicate chocolates and fresh roses. It’s absolutely perfect for a date night! During our stay, we had a river view room and in the morning, we ordered some complimentary tea up to our room, cuddled up in the soft robes and watched the sun rise over the Red River.

Your outfit in that first photo is gorgeous! I love that skirt!! Also, it’s really cool that they had complimentary Clif bars. I feel like when you’re paying to stay somewhere, they shouldn’t feel the need to nickel & dime you on every single thing! Thanks for the review. 🙂
