Depending on whether we’ve actually met in real life, you might be surprised to learn that I’m barely over 5 feet tall. I suppose since it’s usually only me in outfit photos there would be very little frame of reference to notice how petite I actually am. Truthfully, I love being a petite gal though, even though it means I always have to hem my jeans and can never reach things on the top shelf.
Although I’m petite, I’ve learned a few tips on how to look like a tall girl (or at least in photos!). Of course beyond wearing sky high heels and teasing your hair to get a few extra inches, there’s not much you can do to change your physical height. But there are a few ways you can trick the eye to make yourself look longer & leaner.
Here are my tips for how to look taller than you actually are!
1. High waisted anything!
Whether you choose a maxi skirt or a pair of belted trousers, wearing bottoms that sit at your natural waist will give you legs for days! To get the full effect of your high waisted bottoms, make sure to pair them with either a crop top or with a pretty blouse tucked into the waistband.
2. Nude heels
High heels in any colour will obviously make you taller, but nude heels give you an extra visual boost. That’s because instead of your shoes visually cutting off the line of your leg (like they would with a classic black pump) the nude heels make it look like your leg extends all the way to the tips of your heels.
When it comes to purchasing nude heels, it’s important to choose a nude colour that is similar to your skin tone. Since I am very fair skinned, I personally prefer my nude heels to be more of a ballet pink colour than instead of the classic tan hue.
3. Monochrome
Choosing to wear one colour from head to toe will always make you look taller and slimmer. Whether you choose a classic black ensemble or a bold baby blue jumpsuit, sticking with one colour will visually lengthen your body in the best way possible.

These are great tips. I’m not short but I’m not tall either. High-waisted anything adds so much length. I love adding wedges too. 🙂
Being 5′, this post is kind of perfect for me. My friends don’t understand why I love high-waisted pants and shorts so much, but they’re all so much taller than me. I’ve also just discovered my love of jumpsuits. Yes, please.
Love these! I’m pretty short, and these will definitely help!!
I have short legs and a long torso, so I appreciate this post! I absolutely love your braid, by the way 🙂

I’m already pretty tall so I don’t have to fake it very often haha, but these are great tips! Nude heels definitely give the illusion of having super long legs!
I’m 5’10 so I have no problem looking tall. But these tips are so helpful to someone who is petite!
