Over the past few years, I’ve really come to know myself and my personal style. While there was a time where I’d try any fashion trend, I now only incorporate trends into my wardrobe that I truly love. Part of defining your personal style is not only knowing the things you will wear, but also the things you won’t wear. So today, I thought I’d share a few of the things you won’t find me wearing in my outfit posts.
1. Round toed shoes
I wore round toed shoes for most of my school aged years, but once I found pointy toed heels, I never looked back! As a petite gal, I need every inch of lengthening possible, and for some reason round toed shoes make my legs look stubby. No thanks!
2. Graphic tees
While graphic tees are fine for working out or lounging around the house, I’m personally over them. I’ll be turning 30 soon *gasp* and I think they are too casual and immature for my liking.
3. Cap sleeves
Cap sleeves are literally the least flattering thing on my body. Since my body type is more of an upside triangle itty bitty sleeves accentuate my strong upper body… but in a not-so-great way.
4. Body-con dresses
In my daily life, I really don’t have anywhere to wear body-con dresses. My weekends usually consist of Saturday brunch, coffee shop runs and Sunday mornings at church. None of which are places where body-con dresses are particularly appropriate. While skintight dresses look gorgeous on many women, they just don’t fit my lifestyle.
5. Elastic anything
As a general rule, I try to stay away from anything with an elastic waistband. Don’t get me wrong, I love stretchy yoga pants as much as the next girl! But when I’m not working out I prefer more tailored garments. They tend to be more flattering and generally look more expensive.
Now, I don’t have anything against these particular styles. If you love them, then go for it! They just don’t work for my personal style or body shape. We all have different personal styles and I think that is amazing! Wear what you love, but also don’t be afraid to say no to things that don’t suit your style. Knowing what you don’t like is just as important as knowing what you do when it comes to defining your personal style.

I love that dress! It’s the perfect shade of baby blue! I agree with your style nos, especially cap sleeves, just nope! And bodycon dresses, like you I wouldn’t have any place to wear it!
Ha, I may have previously agreed with you on these 5 things I wont wear, but my style has changed over the past few years and these are all now staples of my wardrobe! Haha. There’s nothing I wont wear, but I stay away from baggy silhouettes that don’t do anything for my body.

I love your style so much! I think no matter what you wear (or don’t wear) you will look absolutely stunning. This particular outfit is just beautiful. The color, the texture … it’s all grand. Keep doing you, girlfriend!
how pretty is this dress! i’ll never wear body con dresses either!
You have the cutest style! Narrowing down what you do and don’t wear is so important and saves on time and energy!

This is such a fun post! Made my think about my own!
First, you look stunning!! Second, I LOVE this post! One thing I will NEVER wear is lace up flats (or flats in general). They just really don’t do anything for me at all lol! It’s definitely important to stay true to your own style even though trying trends can be fun!
