I have always loved getting all dressed up, and this time of year is the best for breaking out your formal wear. Even if your normal winter wardrobe consists of cozy knits and simple tee’s, the holidays are the perfect excuse to get a little glam. From Christmas parties to New Years celebrations, there are so many fun events and get togethers that allow you to be a bit more formal with your style.
But what should you be looking for when choosing holiday party outfits this year? Here are a few holiday dressing trends that you might want to incorporate.
1. Soft velvet
Velvet is a beautiful fabric that gives an outfit so much texture. While it was popular in the 90’s it has only recently come back in vogue. It’s a fabric that always looks luxe, even though you can find pretty velvet dresses at almost any price point. In fact, this gorgeous velvet maxi I’m wearing is available on Amazon for only $35. Seriously such a steal!
2. Sequins & glitter
There is nothing like sequins for adding light catching dimension to your outfit. New Years Eve parties are the perfect opportunity to throw caution to the wind and drape yourself in the most sparkly clothing you can find. Of course, if you prefer the idea of adding just a touch of glitter to your outfit, sequinned shoes and accessories are always a great option.
3. Cozy fur
Whether real or faux, fur details are sure to make your formalwear stand out from the crowd. A fur stole is perfect for wearing draped across your shoulders while indoors, or for layering over your coat on the way to an event. For an even bolder look, try pastel dyed fur. Icy shades of cerulean or blush pink gives a unique take on the trend that will be sure to turn heads.
