Winter in the Canadian prairies means the air is cold and dry. When you’re not outside braving the elements, you are dealing with recycled indoor air that is equally drying for your skin. Every year, I’ve struggled during the winter season to keep my skin from feeling tight or becoming flakey. Along the way, I’ve tried and tested many products and have found quite a few products that are ultra hydrating and truly make a difference in the way my skin feels.
Today I’m sharing all my favourite products for keeping my skin hydrated all winter long.
– My favourite moisturizing beauty products –
Moisturizing products for your LIPS
Every night before bed I use the Bite Beauty agave lip mask. It’s definitely my favourite lip product for making a visible difference in the hydration of my lips. It stays on all through the night and has a lightly sweet taste. For casual days working at home or running errands, I prefer a tinted lip balm to keep my lips ultra moisturized. My current favourite is Fresh Sugar lip treatment in the colour rosé. It’s just pigmented enough to add a hint of colour. When I want to wear an actual lipstick I first exfoliate with a lip scrub like the Fresh Sugar lip polish then prime my lips with the MAC Prep & Prime. Then I’m ready to apply whatever colour lipstick I’m feeling that day.
Moisturizing products for your FACE
In addition to applying a lightweight moisturizer after washing my face in the morning, I’ve also been adding in a moisturizing mask once a week to help replenish my skin and keep it looking soft and bright. The Elizabeth Grant hydra cell active moisture mask is my current favourite. It has hyaluronic acid in it which is amazing for repairing your skin’s natural moisture barrier.
The skin around your eyes is very delicate and you need to maintain moisture around this area if you want to prevent signs of early aging. As I’m nearing thirty years old (gasp!), I’ve been extra diligent to make sure I’m taking care of the skin surrounding my eyes. I’m currently loving the Elizabeth Grant cashmere eye repair gel for making sure I keep the thin skin around my eyes well hydrated.
Moisturizing products for your HANDS & FEET
When I was a teenager, I had a dermatologist recommend the Herbacin Kamille hand cream for ultra-dry skin. Now it’s nothing super fancy, but this moisturizer works amazing if your skin is super dry. I find using it once or twice a week before I hit the sheets is all I need to keep my hands and feet feeling soft.
Moisturizing products for your BODY
I love a long hot shower, but of course they can be extremely drying for your skin. That’s why I always try to use a body wash or bath soak that has moisturizing ingredients in it. After showering (or bathing!) it’s so important to apply a moisturizer immediately afterwards. That way it helps trap some of the moisture from your shower within your skin. I prefer body lotions that are a lighter formula, that soaks in quickly and smells amazing. Lately my lotion of choice has been Fruits & Passion’s 24h moisturizing butter in the yummy scent of grapefruit guava.
