Welcome to my cozy and glamorous bedroom! As they say on TV, this is where the magic happens… and by that I mean this is where I usually end up writing most of the content for Pretty Little Details. Yes, if I’m being truthfully, I usually spend more time working from bed than from my office. Anyone else want to admit to doing the same?
Anyways, my bedroom is one of the last rooms in my house that I haven’t featured here on Pretty Little Details yet. As with other rooms in my house, I often change out accessories for the season and since fall is coming I wanted to make my bedroom feel extra cozy. One of my favourite places to shop for home decor is Urban Barn, so today I’ve teamed up with them to showcase some of their gorgeous new fall products. To help give my room that cozy fall feeling I added in plenty of faux fur details and incorporated dusty rose hued accessories that are perfect for the season.
Recently, I read The Little Book of Hygge and since reading it I decided that I wanted to incorporate more hygge into my own personal space. With it being almost fall, now is perfect time to shop for hyggest decor pieces!
So what is exactly is hygge? It’s a Danish word to express coziness and contentment. Lots of things can be considered hygge (think a hot bowl of soup or a board game night with friends) but in home decor hygge focuses on incorporating warmth and comfort into your space. Basically, hygge is that indescribable thing that makes a house feel like a home.
Beyond revealing my bedroom, today I wanted to share a few tips for how you can also incorporate hygee into your own home this fall.
Here are 3 easy ways to add more hygge into your space:
1. Lighting
In order to achieve hygge in home decor you need the right type of lighting. Soft lighting makes a space feel warm and cozy. Instead of harsh overhead lighting add table lamps that glow with softly lit bulbs. If you already have a pretty chandelier or pendants in your space try installing a dimmer to help set a relaxing mood. Even better, light a few candles and watch their flickering light dance across the room.
2. Cozy textures
With temperatures dropping, make sure to incorporate warmer fabric choices into your decorating. Great fall fabric choices include soft velvet and chunky knits. Add a few fluffy pillows (like the pink & grey fur ones on my bed!) and your room will feel hyggest in no time!
3. Plenty of blankets
There is nothing better than cozying up with a soft blanket and a warm drink. Make sure to incorporate plenty of blankets into your space to up the hygge factor. On your bed, one blanket is never enough. Try layering a simple duvet with soft throw blankets in your favourite colour.
Decor details: Rose velvet chair // Mirrored jewellery box // Grey fur pillows // Pink fur pillow // Floral trinket box // White duvet set // Rose book box // Grey fur throw blanket // Flower photo holder // Sparkle jewellery dish // Blush tea light holder (used as vase) // Slay then Rosé mirror

What color is the dark accent wall
Hi Holly, The accent wall is actually wallpapered. Unfortunately I don’t have a link to the paper I used.
Where can I get that gorgeous jewelry tans on the shelf? I’m in love with it!
Hi! Sorry, but I’m not sure which one you are asking about. Could you clarify?
Can you please tell me where the comforter is from?
Hi Jasmine,
Here’s the link to my duvet cover: https://www.urbanbarn.com/en/product/blanka-duvet-set-queen-white-134486.html
Cheers!
Beautiful! Do you have a link or advice for the color of the curtains? I have a similar color accent wall.
Hi Megan! I actually just made the curtains myself. If you have a sewing machine, making curtains is a breeze and you get to choose any fabric you want. My recommendation for pink curtains is to definitely line them with blackout lining so you don’t get a pink colour cast in the room.
