A few weeks ago I had my first job interview in years. As a full-time blogger my workwear wardrobe has slowly been phased out in leu of comfortable lounge wear and chic going out clothes. So when it came time to get dressed for my interview, I had to take a good hard look at my wardrobe before finding a work appropriate outfit.
So what should you be wearing to work? Well, today I’m sharing my tips for creating a stylish workwear wardrobe. Read on to find out what you should be wearing to work this season.
What to wear to work: 4 style workwear tips
1. Be mindful of your jewellery.
I believe that jewellery is the icing on the cake and just because you are in the workplace does not mean you have to sacrifice your style. When choosing work appropriate jewellery, make sure to choose more subtle pieces and stay away from any jewellery that makes noises. Typing on a computer while oversized bangle bracelets clink against the keyboard is distracting and is not functional. Dainty rings or simple necklaces are your best bet.
2. Keep it tucked.
When it comes to office wear, a tucked in shirt looks much more professional than an untucked one. Not only does tucking in your blouse gives your entire outfit a cleaner look but it also has the added benefit of making your waist look smaller. Try pairing a stylish belt with your outfit for extra style points.
3. Choose an appropriate bag
As much as I love pretty clutches they aren’t the most practical for daily wear. Instead find a structured crossbody bag or classic tote. The grey tote bag I’m wearing in today’s post is a great option. It’s large enough to stash your laptop and paperwork in without looking bulky.
4. Incorporate chic outerwear
Office spaces are notoriously chilly so make sure you wear multiple layers so you can stay comfortable no matter what the office temperature is. Your outerwear should not be an afterthought. When shopping for outerwear choose a chic coat that will keep you warm while adding another stylish element to your look.
