Becoming a mom is hands down the most life changing experience ever but there is also a steep learning curve. Today, I’m sharing a few things I’ve figured out along the way. Here are 5 thing’s I’ve learned since becoming a mom.
1.Finding childcare isn’t easy!
Now that I’m working as a flight attendant, I’ve had to entrust a few people to watch Emilia while I’m away. We applied for daycare as soon as Emilia was born, but we were told that we were so far down the list it would likely take years before we got in. That meant the next best option was finding a nanny but good nannies get snatched up fast. In the end it took months to line up people to watch her, but now that we have childcare settled I can for the most part breathe easy.
2. Everything gets harder
There are so many things i took for granted before becoming a mom. One of those things? Grocery shopping! The first time I had to buy food after having Emilia I had a mini freak out and had to ask people on Instagram how exactly I should manage taking a baby shopping. I recently discovered the Binxy shopping cart hammock which is a super fun way to bring your little one with you on your shopping trip. It snaps right onto the cart so your little one has somewhere to sit without your car seat taking up your entire shopping cart. It also comes in super cute prints like this pretty floral design.
3. Organization is key.
You have to be so much more organized when you have a kid. I’m generally a pretty organized person to begin with but after having a baby trying to arrive anywhere on time became nearly impossible. On days when I have to be on time somewhere, I literally have multiple alarms set for when everything has to be done. Wake baby by 6:35. Start feeding by 6:40. Get baby dressed by 7:00. Out the door by 7:10!
4. All your money goes to baby clothes.
My daughter’s wardrobe is now officially better than mine. You think I’m joking but she has a closet completely filled with dresses, pyjamas, bows and bibs. I on the other hand only have one pair of jeans that fit since giving birth. That being said, shopping for a little girl is seriously so much fun. A favourite place of mine to shop is Zara kids. They have so many cute clothes that are more timeless than trendy. I also really love Gap Kids for pretty Sunday dresses and Joe Fresh for cute layering pieces.
5. They really do grow up so fast.
My baby girl is almost six months old and I can hardly believe how fast time has flown. When we first had her, everyone would tell us to enjoy each stage of life even through the sleepless nights and hectic days. All in all, we’ve tried our best to enjoy every moment. Because I’m told one day even the tiniest babies will become teenagers who would rather hang out with their friends than with you.
