I just arrived home from a whirlwind trip to Cuba where we rode around in vintage cars, spent hours by the beach and took hundreds of photos. I’ll be sharing my full travel guide soon but today I wanted to share the details of my favourite beach dress ever. I purchased it at the end of summer last year and it has been patiently waiting in my closet to be taken out for a vacation in the sun.
I always love bringing maxi dresses along when I travel. They provide extra protection from the sun (which is especially important when you are fair skinned like myself) and they are so versatile. Maxi dresses can easily go from day to evening wear easily with a quick change of heels and accessories. They are especially handy to pack when traveling to countries where modesty is of cultural importance. Many temples and religiously significant sites require your knees and shoulders to be covered so a maxi dress is a great option.
This white dress is the Beach Bliss maxi dress from Free People and it is my favourite beach dress ever. It’s perfect to wear for a spring break vacation to the caribbean and works as either a day dress or a swim cover-up. The best part about this dress is the way it moves. It flows so effortlessly in the wind and seriously just makes you want to twirl!
While I’ve previously seen this dress sold in white, blue and black, it seems as though Free People keeps re-releasing it in new colours. Currently it is available in the colours “mahogany” and “stone” – both very pretty! One thing I will note is that the white version of this dress is very sheer on the bottom. It definitely requires nude underwear or a matching slip to be worn underneath. I typically wear a size 8 in dresses and purchased the size large in this dress because it was the last size available at the time. Unfortunately, the dress fits quite big on me, but I loved it enough that I was willing to take in the seams a bit so the shoulders wouldn’t fall down. I would definitely recommend sizing down 1-2 sizes in this dress to ensure a good fit.
Here’s a few photos of my wearing my white beach bliss maxi during our recent Cuba trip.
