The Prada Galleria is the ultimate luxury workhorse bag. Its shape is classic with simple practical feature like expanding sides and handles that fold down flat for cross body carrying. I personally own the medium Prada Galleria in the colour Cipria and I am frequently grabbing it whenever I need to carry more than just my phone and keys. Today I’m sharing my full review with everything you need to know before buying a Prada Galleria bag.
An honest review of the Prada Galleria handbag.
What fits in a medium Prada galleria bag?
The medium Prada Galleria is truly a workhorse bag and fits anything and everything. The two side zippered compartments fit regular A4 paper perfectly making them great for storing documents you need for work or stashing a magazine for a plane ride. I’ve frequently used my bag as a personal item when traveling as well as even a gym bag since it has enough space to stash a change of clothes and a water bottle for a yoga class.
I have traveled extensively with this bag. It is the perfect size for a personal item and sits well on top of my rolling carryon bag. My only complaint is that because the main compartment has no closure mechanism you can’t slide the bag sideways under the seat in front of you without worrying the contents of your bag will roll out during takeoff and landing.
Does a MacBook Pro fit inside the medium Prada galleria bag?
A 13” MacBook Pro does fit inside the medium Prada Galleria bag, but it is tight. If you choose to use a case on your laptop, you would need to open the snaps on the bag, and slip the laptop into the bag diagonally. One thing to consider is that the MacBook pro is quite heavy, and carrying it frequently could lead to warping of the leather like you can see with my bag. Sadly, I doubt the new 14″ MacBook Pros will fit (leaving me wondering what new computer I will buy once my old MacBook finally bites the dust, but that’s a story for another post!)
What sizes does the Prada Galleria come in?
Currently the Prada Galleria comes in four different sizes: large, medium, small and micro.

Where to buy a Prada Galleria?
Prada bags can of course be bought in person from Prada boutiques or online through the Prada website. However, they are also available to purchase online through several high end boutiques such as Farfetch, Bergdorf Goodman or Cettire. While shopping direct from the brand is usually a great experience, you may find a better deal when shopping through a high end retailer. Currently, Cettire has several colours of the Prada Galleria bag listed for $100-500 less than the Prada website.
Can you use a Prada Galleria as a diaper bag?
As a mom I’ve frequently used the medium Prada Galleria as a diaper bag! In my opinion, it is one of the best designer bags to use as a diaper bag since its design makes its contents so easy to access. It has more than enough room to easily stash a few diapers, a bottle and some extra baby clothes. Unlike bags specifically designed to be a diaper bag however it does not have a waterproof lining or a specific pocket to hold bottles. This problem can be easily remedied by buying an insert such as the Tote Savvy or this affordable purse organizer from Amazon.
What I like about the Prada Galleria:
- the handles flip down when wearing cross body
- it has plenty of different compartments for organizing
- roomy design with more than enough space
- it comes in so many pretty colours
What I dislike about the Prada Galleria
- the main compartment has no zipper
- the leather tends to warp on the larger sized bags
Is a Prada bag worth it?
While this question is obviously a personal one, if you are looking to buy a bag strictly as a financial investment I would recommend saving for a Hermès Birkin instead. If you are looking for a bag you will use frequently that will hold up to daily use, I would say a Prada Galleria bag is definitely worth it.
